A burned-out writer on the brink of quitting discovers that his grandfather once went “Incognegro” on Soul Train in 1971, forcing him to risk his career and reputation to tell a controversial story that could finally define his identity—or destroy it.
-
Daryl’s life is going nowhere fast. His career is stalled, his inspiration is gone, and the world seems to be moving on without him. Just as he’s ready to quit, he stumbles upon a long-buried family secret: his grandfather once danced on Soul Train in 1971.
What begins as a quirky revelation quickly spirals into something deeper—and stranger. Pulled into the rhythms of the past, Daryl finds himself guided (and tormented) by muses, madness, and larger-than-life characters as the story refuses to let him walk away.
Both hilarious and heartfelt, Incognegro is a dark comedy about identity, legacy, and the redemptive power of finding your rhythm. It’s a love letter wrapped in soul—about the secrets we inherit, the truths we avoid, and the music that connects us across generations.

Incognegrowas born from my fascination with rhythm—not just in music, but in storytelling, identity, and the way family secrets echo across generations.
At its core, this is a dark comedy about what happens when the past refuses to stay buried. Daryl, a blocked writer, uncovers a repressed memory that his grandfather once danced on Soul Train in 1971. That discovery forces him into a collision of comedy, culture, and identity that is both hilarious and haunting.
As a writer and a veteran, I’ve often explored resilience and legacy. With Incognegro, I wanted to move to a different rhythm—one that blends humor with cultural history, surreal muses with raw emotion, and laughter with truth.
This story is a love letter wrapped in soul. It’s about how comedy opens doors to inner truth, how art gives us courage, and how even the heaviest legacy can find redemption in rhythm.
